Another component of City Government Month in the classroom is the coloring and activity book. This book is divided into two sections designed for:
The focus for the earlier grades is primarily on identifying core city servies, while the later grades are challenged to put their knowledge into action, such as writing an ordinance or creating a budget.
The booklet has loads of original artwork for coloring and lots of activities, such as a word scramble, a map of Kentucky, and a checklist of how students can help their local government. It also includes guidance on how to conduct an essay or letter writing contest and a glossary of key social studies terms.
